Representation

The Friends of Pippy Park is represented on many committees and foundations connected with projects and programs in the park. The Friend’s Board of Directors includes representation from the Pippy Park Commission and many user groups of the park.

Activities

The Friends publish maps and brochures among other materials to help promote the Park. The group occasionally conducts guided tours for visitors, organizes meetings, special events and children''s programs.

Each summer, the Friends operate the Children''s Gardening Program. It provides children between the ages of 7 and 12 years a valuable and enjoyable experience in growing flowers and vegetables in their own plot. The children also learn more about their natural environment through nature crafts and field trips.

The Friends partner annually with the Rainbow Riders in organizing a Christmas in Pippy Park event on the Sunday before Christmas. The event, held in the Rainbow Riders Barn on Mt. Scio Road, includes a ‘Nativity Tableau’ carol singing and a brief Ecumenical service.

The Friends also work with the Pippy Park Promotions Committee and the Pippy Park Commission in writing and publishing a monthly newsletter, In Pippy Park. The newsletter lists activities and events together with articles related to the Park on items of interest to residents and visitors to St. John''s. The Friends work with the Pippy Park Heritage Committee in presenting a series of public lectures on subjects related to Pippy Park.

The Friends submit briefs and recommendations to the Pippy Park Commission on such subjects as the Pippy Park Master Plan Review. The group also organizes periodic cleanups of the Park.
